Pastor

Pastor Hillary was appointed to United Methodist Church Ludington in July of 2021.

I’ve been called to ministry in the church since the age of 14. Each church I’ve served has shaped me into the leader I am today. After serving United Methodist churches in the Petoskey area and Greater Lansing, the Bishop appointed me to serve here. Jesus has been faithful every step of the journey, and I’m glad to call myself a disciple!

I grew up in Stanwood, MI graduating from Chippewa Hills High School. I studied Biblical Literature and Christian Education at Indiana Wesleyan University and received a Master’s degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. I am also married to a pastor. My husband, Rev. Dr. Vaughn Thurston-Cox, serves at Centenary United Methodist Church in Pentwater. We have one daughter, Grace, and many international exchange students who we count as part of our family.

What I love about my church:

The loving and accepting atmosphere. We aren’t perfect, but we try our best to love others well.

What I look forward to most in the next five years at my church:

Growing in relationships with each other and becoming the home and family that God has called the church to be. Renewing our commitment to the community through serving. Becoming more diverse as we welcome all who hear God’s call.

Where I have seen God most at work in my church?

In the generous people that give sacrificially to missions in the area and around the world. I’ve never served a church with a bigger heart for helping those in need.
